Prior to the 1795 establishment of Fort Edmonton, known as amiskwaciwâskahikan (ᐊᒥᐢᑲᐧᒋᐋᐧᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ), Indigenous peoples shared an intimate and ongoing relationship with one another and these lands. We respectfully acknowledge the traditional land on which we reside, is in Treaty Six Territory.

Where we are going

Edmonton recognizes the future is urban and is actively planning for its next 1 million residents expected over the next 20 years.

The City Plan is an invitation to join in building a version of our city that respects and preserves the things we value today while also creating a city to inspire all of our residents.
