Not only did U of A wrestling champs Taylor McPherson and Katie Mulkay win the latest season of Amazing Race Canada, they did so while finishing the last leg in Edmonton.
“This is our home,” said Mulkay, as the duo celebrated at the final pitstop in Commonwealth Stadium, along with host Jon Montgomery and previously eliminated racers.
McPherson and Mulkay battled three other teams throughout the Season 10 finale. The women finally pulled ahead during the last challenge at the Royal Alberta Museum—organizing photos from each leg of the race.
Other Edmonton challenges included: climbing up the High Level Bridge, finding mascots for the Oilers, Elks, Riverhawks and Oil Kings on Whyte Avenue, and doing an aerial silk routine at the U of A’s Butterdome—where McPherson and Mulkay used to wrestle.
They’re only the second team of women to win Amazing Race Canada. The two travelled more than 16,000 kilometres across Canada, visiting 16 cities in seven provinces as part of Season 10.
Their message? “Strong is beautiful and as a female, you can do anything,” said Mulkay.
Amazing. Congratulations!
